Insanity – FEATURED!

After 2 rounds of P90x, I was ready to take my performance to even higher limits.  I decided to take on Insanity by creating a hybrid workout with P90x for my Round 3.   Insanity is famous for being one of the most intense cardio programs offered by Beachbody.  I can tell you firsthand that it definitely lives up to its hype and is not for the faint of heart.

My hybrid consisted of following the 3 resistance days of P90x each week and replacing the cardio days with Insanity.  I still remember putting my first DVD in for Insanity and following along the program.  Shaun T. said we would be starting with a little warmup, which ended up feeling like a full-fledged cardio workout.  I thought to myself, “This is a warmup?”  Wow!  Well, to be honest, things only get much tougher after the warmup and stretch.  I never knew how much I could push myself in a workout until I took on Insanity.  The cast that follows along with Shaun T. are constantly taking breaks, and some even sideline themselves for a short period of time.  The workouts are that intense!  I firmly believe that if you are not feeling the need to take breaks, then you are not pushing yourself hard enough during these workouts.

Insanity has become one of my favorite cardio workouts and has greatly improved my athletic performance, but it does not have any resistance training like P90x.  Insanity focuses more on using your body weight with intense plyometric and pushup routines.  If your goal is to gain mass, then I believe that P90x is the better option.  That is why I chose to do a hybrid P90x and Insanity program.  If your goal is to shed fat and get ripped, then Insanity is another great option.  In either case, if you are ready to take on one of the most “insane” cardio workouts of all time, then Insanity is for you.
