Fred’s Story

Hello, my name is Fred Lee and welcome to my website called Team Dragon Fit. I am an Independent Team Beachbody Coach. My goal is to make this site a free resource for inspiration, education, and motivation for people on their fitness journey.

Here is my story…

In April 2010, I turned the big “40”. I remember staring at the mirror and looking at the 275 pound guy staring back at me and thinking “How did I let myself get like this?”

Looking back almost 20 years, I met my wife while studying abroad to learn Chinese in Taiwan during college. Studying abroad changed my life and opened a whole new world to me. I got a job in international marketing working for the biggest computer company in Taiwan. Not a bad first job for a young American guy fresh out of college. I thought I was living the dream!

When my wife first met me, I used to be active and in shape. In fact, I was a college football player. Fast forward a couple of years after graduating and the pounds started to pile on as I worked longer and longer hours trying to be successful in my new career.

Then, fast forward a decade. I finally got married and traveled back to the States to get an MBA and then got a job doing international marketing for a US based company. This time the long hours and international travel began really taking a toll on my body. I ballooned up to almost 300 pounds!

One of my lowest points was on my 33rd birthday when I got a physical examination with my doctor. I still remember the first thing he said to me was “that is too bad”. I said, “Doctor, what is it?” My doctor told me that all my vitals looked good. He said, “It was too bad” because it was guaranteed not to last. At 300 pounds, he said I needed to start losing the weight now or else it would only be a matter of time before I would be in serious health trouble.

Over the next few years I tried losing the weight, joined many gyms, and even got down to 262 pounds. But, I began to have children and exercise took the back seat once again. I got comfortable being a dad and working long hours to support my new family. My first two kids barely saw me as I worked day at night and even weekends trying to “climb the corporate ladder”.

At 40 years old, I decided I needed to make a change. I was tired and burned out and I wanted to turn my life around. That is when I shocked my boss and all my coworkers when I announced I was going to quit. They were even more shocked when I told them where I was going. I was leaving to join my mom and dad’s restaurant business.

The decision to finally quit my job led to a lot more positive changes. That is when I decided to spend more time with my family. That is when I decided my 3rd child would actually see his father. That is when I decided I needed to get healthy so I can be with my family a long time. The only problem was I didn’t know how. Luckily, that is when a friend introduced me to P90x.

I was 275 pounds when I started P90x in December of 2010 (which, ironically, was kind of skinny for me back then). This time, I was determined. I was going to keep my promise to myself and my family to get healthy.

Was P90x tough? Absolutely! The 20 years of barely any exercise, long meetings, travel, and sitting down in front a computer did not prepare me for such a tough program. Like Tony Horton says in the workout videos, “Just show up and keep pushing play.” I did just that. I also followed the nutrition guide and was 100% committed to following through. I began starting to notice differences in my body. I started to feel better and had more energy to play with my kids. My pants started to become looser. By the end of 3 months, I weighed 253 pounds (down 22 pounds). I was the skinniest I had been in a long time. I was now hooked.

I wanted to get even better results. I went online and found Coach Wayne who had amazing results with P90x and asked him to be my coach. I followed his advice and ran a calorie deficit for all of round 2 of P90x. Based on his recommendations, I started drinking Shakeology, was 100% committed to eating “clean”, weighed and tracked everything I ate, and kept pushing play 6 times a week.

By end of Round 2, I finished off at 198 pounds. I lost a total of 55 pounds in 3 months (down 77 pounds overall from where I started 6 months ago). I fit loosely in size 36 size pants (down from a size 46). Words cannot express how it feels to lose all this weight and know that I am healthier now and will be here longer for my beautiful family. It is strange to look in the mirror and not have that almost 300 pound guy staring back at me anymore.

I have had amazing success using these programs and am now committed to living a fit lifestyle. I want to follow the great example of my coach and help others on their fitness journey and achieve their goals, so I am now a Beachbody Coach and started my site at Hopefully, you find this website informative and useful on your fitness journey.

Here’s to your health!
