Coach Summit 2012

Hi Team Dragon Fit!

In June, I had the pleasure to attend my first Beachbody Coach Summit in Las Vegas.  What an amazing experience!  Beachbody holds this event annually and they usually hold it at their corporate headquarters in California. This year they wanted to kick it up a notch and hold it in Las Vegas.

Along with learning firsthand many of Beachbody’s product news and updates, I got the chance to meet many other Beachbody coaches and celebrity trainers.  I even got the opportunity to do group workouts with Tony Horton, Shaun T, Chalene Johnson, the Les Mills Pump team, and Sagi Kalev.  More importantly, I also got to personally thank two very important people that have changed my life.

Tony and the Gang Bringing It!

First, I got to shake hands with Tony Horton, the creator of P90x.  As many on my team know, I have been doing P90x for over a year and a half now.  I told him that I lost 100 lbs. thanks to his program.  In typical Tony fashion, he smiled, pointed his finger at me and with a serious tone said, “If you gain it back I will come to your house and personally DESTROY YOU!!!”  Yeah, Tony is known as a “fitness clown” and I gotta tell you that he is even funnier in real life!  Tony held three group workout sessions during the event and I attended them all in person.  It was hard to catch my breath and do many of the moves as he had me and the rest of the crowd laughing at his jokes.  I am used to working out by myself in the comfort of my home, but what an amazing experience to be working out with 5,000 other people at the same time in one convention ballroom and later on the Las Vegas strip outside!

My biggest highlight was finally getting the opportunity to meet and thank my Beachbody Coach, Wayne Wyatt.  I found my coach after watching one of his YouTube transformation videos online.  I lost 22 lbs. in my first round of P90x by “going it alone”.  After I asked Wayne to be my coach and followed his advice, I lost a whopping 55 lbs. in the next 3 months!  Wayne is a great guy, a gentleman, and a real class act! You would never guess he was the winner of the prestigious “Top Coach” award for all of Beachbody in 2011 because he is so gracious and humble. Thanks again, Coach, for helping me reach my goals!  Now I hope to “pay it forward” by following in your footsteps and coaching others!

Beachbody has a lot coming in their pipeline and a couple things I would like to highlight are as follows:

I got the opportunity to try this firsthand at the event.  They had a Shakeology bar serving healthy drinks all day!  It tastes great and is very similar to the original chocolate Shakeology flavor.  It is a great option for those that are looking for Vegan alternatives in order to avoid whey, dairy, or animal based products.  If you are already drinking Shakeology on Home Direct (I do everyday!), then to change flavors is easy by calling 1-800-240-0913.

This is a program that I am personally very excited about.  The creator is Sagi Kalev.  This program is all about gaining muscle and getting bigger!  I ordered this program and will be starting this shortly after my P90x challenge group ends.

You might think it strange for Beachbody, a fitness and health company, to hold its event in Las Vegas. To quote CEO Carl Daikeler, “Beachbody’s mission is to end the trend of obesity.  What better place to set an example than at Las Vegas?”  I didn’t know what to expect. This was my first time to actually meet many other coaches in person.  I have become friends with so many of them online but it was amazing to actually meet so many like minded individuals in one place.  On the surface, you only see all these fit, buff, and ripped people.  As you talk to them, they all have a similar story to my own.  They were out of shape, tired, and had given up.  Beachbody had helped them turn their lives around.  As I talked to many of them, I was amazed how these people standing in front of me, who were in such awesome shape, used to be 100 or even 200 lbs. overweight!  Incredible!!

Las Vegas has a lot of temptations for eating and drinking. However, it was great to see so many like minded people “walking the talk” and lining up for healthy cooked meals and salads and avoiding the buffets and fast food options like McDonald’s.  This only reinforced how much living this fit lifestyle has changed my life and so many others.  I am sure that many onlookers at the casino would probably think we were all a little crazy.  As we walked around with our salads and shaker cups of Shakeology, they were all instead lining up for alcohol drinks at the bar, sugary drinks at Starbucks, and the buffet.  This only reinforces one of my favorite quotes that “OBSESSION is the word used by the lazy to describe the DEDICATED!”  Summit was an amazing experience and I have already signed up to go again next year.

Here’s to your health and hoping that people are starting to call you a little “obsessed” too!  LOL!  Keep “bringing it”!
