P90x3 Coming This Year!

P90x3 Coming This Year!

Oct 8, 2013

Hi Gang! Check out the video above.  That’s right!  You heard it right here!  I am SUPER excited to announce that P90x3 is launching by the end of this year.  Beachbody is starting to share some details on this program and here is what I know as of right now: 1.) WHAT IS P90X3? Tony Horton calls P90X3 the ultimate excuse buster.  The original P90X program was a game changer in the fitness industry and introduced “muscle confusion” and “periodization” so average people could get extreme results. For myself, I ended up losing 100 lbs. using this program!  P90X2 was a “graduate program” for veterans of P90X.  It had stability balls and med balls, balance moves, etc. that can be mastered but will take some time.  Tony loves the P90X2 program but found the advanced moves intimidated many people. With P90X3, they condensed and simplified many workouts and packaged it all together in only 30 minutes.  Simply put, the goal is to get the same insane results in a shorter period of time.  Tony says that science is showing that the bulk of the results people get in a 45 to 60 minute workout is the first 3o minutes.  There will be NO BREAKS!  So, get ready to “Bring it”! 2.) WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PROGRAMS?  IS YOGA AN HOUR AND A HALF AGAIN? The base kit has 16 workouts and the deluxe kit has 20 workouts. Some of the new programs include: Pilates, MMX (based on MMA fighting) CVX Cardio, Agility X, Isometrics, and so on.  The best news for me and many others is that Yoga is now ONLY 30 minutes! LOL!  Like the original P90X, there are several program schedules to choose from: “Classic”, “Lean”, “Doubles”, and a brand new one which interests me a lot because I love the Body Beast program: “Mass”. 3.) NUTRITION: P90x3 has a simplified nutrition plan more in line with eating “healthier” and “choosing” healthier foods.  It is similar to the original Power 90 program that Tony Horton launched in the early days of Beachbody.  Something accessible for everyone.  Still, there will be plenty of information for those of us that like to track...

Mid-Week Motivation – “What to do about haters?”

Mid-Week Motivation – “What to do about haters?”

Sep 5, 2013

Hey, Team Dragon Fit! Hope that you had a great Labor Day Weekend and that you are continuing to push play and crush your nutrition! This week’s topic is about “Haters” and what to do about them. “Haters” are all around us.  I had many on my fitness journey and still have some that pop up from time to time to comment or judge me.  They used to bother me a ton, but now, I don’t let them get to me at all.  I wrote an article about this a long time ago (on March, 2012) called “Naysayers” (click here to see).  As you can see, this is a very common occurrence for those on a fitness journey. Be sure to not let the “Haters” get to you.  Don’t let one comment derail your progress.  The good news is that “Haters” only start commenting when they see others accomplishing things they are not willing to do themselves.  They are jealous and  want to make themselves feel better by saying something negative.  Remember, that you are choosing to live a healthy and fit lifestyle.  Unfortunately, it is now the norm to be “lazy”, complain, and give up.   So, when you start getting these types of comments, that means you are making visible progress!  I challenge you to embrace that. I was motivated to write this article today and make this video because a friend of mine copied me on a Facebook comment that really touched me.  She said: “Just had a moment yesterday where someone made me feel like I’m being braggy. I’m like…I’m still fat, but putting in the time to change. Having everyone in my life in my corner helps and being accountable to that publicly is a huge motivator. I’m inspired by FB posts by Fred Lee, (and she mentions a few others) who remind me what other people my age are doing and that it is possible!” First off, I want to say I am very touched when I see that what I do helps inspires others.  Thank you for sharing that.  I made a decision to change my life when I turned 40 (3 years ago) and began to start “pushing...

Tuesday Talk – A Towel Can Be The Best Tool

Tuesday Talk – A Towel Can Be The Best Tool

Aug 27, 2013

Hey, Dragons! Here is another weekly video episode of our Tuesday Talks.   The video above highlights the following:   1. CONGRATULATIONS TO SARAH AND STEVE STARTING P90X TOGETHER Steve and Sarah started a round of P90x together yesterday.  The are both committed to “bringing it” over the next 90 days.  So, lookout!!  They are going to get awesome results. 2. NEXT WEEK’S CHALLENGE: CHAIR DIPS Do as many as you can in 60 seconds and report what you got.  Bonus points goes out to those that can do some of them with your leg raised.  Bring it! 3. HOW CAN A TOWEL BE THE BEST WORKOUT TOOL? First off, let me give a shout out to Steve who has been “bringing it” on Team Dragon Fit for a long time.  He has lost a ton of weight and has been “paying it forward” by helping others.  The problem with helping people in a group workout is that there is never enough equipment to go around.  That’s okay. Sagi (the creator of Body Beast) showed us a great way to get an awesome calorie burn by just using a simple towel.  Basically, you need to pair up with someone and one person provides resistance, while the other tries to perform the exercise.  The great part is that both people get a great workout.  The one providing resistance sturggles to hold the towel steady and the one performing the exercise gets a burn.  A simple workout of “push” vs. “pull”.  If the person helping you is not as strong as you, then be sure to increase your number of reps so that you still get a great burn. 4. RESULTS OF LAST WEEK’S CHALLENGE: BURPEE JUMP SQUATS FROM LES MILLS COMBAT I have to admit, these were tough.  These are definitely a lot tougher than they looked in the video clip.  With that said, Debbie on our team rocked this challenge.  She nailed out 16 in one minute and then continued to do the enitre workout and did another 19 later.  Awesome!  Coach Fred only got 14, so the “DRAGON AWARD” goes to you, Debbie, for this week’s challenge!  Nice! Hope you are continuing to...

Tuesday Talk – Upping Your Carbs

Tuesday Talk – Upping Your Carbs

Aug 20, 2013

Hi Dragons! Hope you are “bringing it” on your workouts and crushing your nutrition. The video above talks about “upping your carbs”.  Here is a discussion I had last night with one of the members on my team in our online Facebook Support Group. “Upping the carbs is a great idea to shake things up. Awesome that you learned so much how your body reacts while doing the Ultimate Reset. In fact, as long as you are on a calorie deficit, you should lose weight still. The key is that with “GREAT carbs, comes GREAT responsibility”! LOL! Because as you know, carbs are your body’s preferred energy system and also the easiest to turn into fat. If you up your carbs, make sure you also take the responsibility to up your intensity! Those extra carbs should give you an energy boost so take advantage of that and don’t hold back! As I always like to say, “Get your sweat on”! Perhaps your diet can reflect your day. If you are not able to “get your sweat on” during periods of when you are really busy, then on those days you can scale back on the carbs because you know you can’t “bring it”.  What macro and cal targets are you looking at hitting?  50p/30c/20f is a good fat shredder macro target. A good middle road target is 40p/40c/20f or 40c/30p/30f.” I thought this was a really good discussion last night, so I thought I would share with all of you. So, what are your goals?  If you want to lose fat, then a good plan to follow is the “fat shredder diet” that I mention above.  If you are near your goal or starting to lose energy and not see results, then it may be a good time to start upping your carbs.   See my post on “Where Do I start?” for more of my links on nutrition. Just be sure to remember that with “GREAT carbs, comes GREAT responsibility”! Also, I want to give another huge shout out to Sarah and Debbie!  Those two have been really pushing and supporting each other while doing Les Mills Combat.  As a Coach, it really...
